The hands on all EasyRead Time Teacher clocks point directly to the numbers your child should read. This eliminates the confusion experienced with regular analogue clocks and enables our simple 2-step system that leads your child through the process of telling the time. Your child only has to remember the 2 steps to read the time correctly every time. Step 1: Read the number at the end of the short hand (the hour number) Step 2: Read the number at the end of the long hand (the minute number) Like this: 10:09 For 12 hour time we use the hour numbers 1 to 12 in the morning (am). Midday is expressed as 12:00. Then we use the same hour numbers again in the afternoon and evening 1 to 12 (pm). Midnight is again expressed as 12:00. With 12 hour time it's acceptable to use just 3 digits e.g. 4:30 For 24 hour time we use the hour numbers 1 to 12 until midday. Midday is expressed as 12:00. Then we use the hour numbers 13 to 24 in the afternoon and evening. Midnight is expressed as 24:00. With 24 hour time we always use 4 digits e.g. 04:30 or 16.30. Once your child is confident they can tell the time they will read the clock more often. Every time they read it, the information on the clock face gets committed to memory. In a very short time you'll find they can start to read clocks with less information on the face. This product is not safe to be handled by children under 4 years because it has an accessible battery. It is a functioning wall clock not a toy.
